…So the thunder and lightening just came out of nowhere and there hasn’t really been any pause in it.

Ah geeze.

I think it is. But, I will warn you, it actually took me a couple tries to get started on it past the first part. Once I actually got into it again it was great. So that could’ve just been me.

As for the movie part…Honestly they kept it close, like I’ve mentioned but there was a lot of relationship stuff for ALL the characters that got cut because of time. So…if you want deeper understanding of the characters read it first. The movie makes it a bit easier to actually SEE all the connections.

Also if you want you could borrow my copy?

Gotcha. Is it just slow to start and that’s why it took some time?

I do plan on watching the movie, I just figured I’d read the book first. Because that’s usually a good way to go.

Are there any books that it’s similar to that I might have read?

Also, thanks for the offer, but I think I can manage. :3

Yes and no. The Pacific Journal of Adam Ewing started out fine for me. And if you read it aloud to yourself it’s actually very funny cause he’s fairly sassy. I had trouble with pacing at Letters from Zedhelghem the first time. Second time it went fine.

It seemed to work well that way for me too.

I’m trying to think of some but for the life of me I can’t. This was the first book like this that I’d read.

Does your library do a branch to branch lending thing?

I have started my summer reading, but I hit a snag. That snag being that NONE OF THE LIBRARIES NEARBY HAVE CLOUD ATLAS.

*sighs loudly*

Now if I want to read it, I’ll have to buy it, but I don’t usually like buying books unless I know I’ll probably read and like them. So my question to anyone who’s read Cloud Atlas is:

  1. Is this a good enough book to buy without having read it before?
  2. Is watching the movie first to see if I like the story a good idea or is the movie not true enough to the book for that to work?

Thanks.

i’ve had to pee but i’ve been lying in bed scrolling on tumblr for half an hour, a memoir by me

fun fact! France has had only three presidents in the last 32 years: Valéry Giscard d’Estaing, François Mitterrand and Jacques Chirac.
